At the end of the course, students must be able to:

  3. Understand the philosophies and approaches used in research related to the food science and technology.
  4. Describe quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods approaches to research.
  5. Formulate and clarify research questions.
  6. Identify the components of a literature review process.
  7. Critically analyze published research.
  8. Design a research protocol.
  9. Acquire the skills to negotiate access to data and know the techniques to obtain primary and secondary data.
  10. Make informed decision on the statistical analysis to be used.
  11. Develop long-life learning skills in research report presentation.
