This learning guide is focused mainly on the introduction
to the Literature of the World general education course which is a three-unit
course that deals with the study of both written and oral literature of the
selected continents of the world from the beginning of civilization to the
present. The module does not only build the students’ reading skills but also their
higher thinking skills while enhancing their values and appreciating the
connectivity of the people in the world. It also stirs the students’ understanding
of the complex dynamic of the human relationship and its social relevance to
the modern world. It develops the students’ appreciation of their own local
stories and of the diversity and richness of the cultures, traditions,
religions, and the experiences of the country where the literary masterpieces
originate.
