The course involves a study of the principles and theories important to the practice of analytical chemistry. It involves a discussion of the techniques, methods and instrumentation involved in determining the amount of constituents in samples. Particular attention is given to stoichiometric problems.

 The laboratory work covers calibration of instruments, volumetric and gravimetric methods especially hose analyses encountered in industries. Emphasis is placed on correct laboratory procedures and techniques.

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

           1. apply chemical principles in solving problems in quantitative chemical analysis;

          2. integrate the use of classical chemical analysis in real-world problems; and

          3. apply statistics in evaluating quality of analytical data.
